SMART START OKLAHOMA
Growing in numbers and in commitment, advocates continued their work and were joined by Oklahoma's newly elected Governor, Brad Henry. The Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness Act was passed in April 2003, during the 49th legislative session. The legislation created first public-private early childhood initiative and formed two entities, the Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness and its supporting foundation, the Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness Foundation. The partnership board then named our school readiness effort Smart Start Oklahoma.
