WHAT IS IT?We strive to provide families with resources to strengthen families across our state.
Oklahoma Strengthening Families, established in 2007, provides concrete supports to families through early childhood programs that provide services to young children on a daily basis. Nearly 60% of all children under age six are in some sort of out-of-home care for at least part of the day. Because early childhood programs reach a large proportion of families on a daily basis, program staff are critical resources when parents are stressed or a child is exhibiting developmental or social-emotional challenges.
Oklahoma Strengthening Families provides training and structure for program staff to better support families and children in their times of need, and to better help families and program staff build protective factors that reduce the likelihood of adverse home and care environments.
